Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee President Harmeet Singh Kalka condemned an attempt to stage a political protest inside Gurdwara Bangla Sahib, stating that the action directly hurt Sikh religious sentiments. Speaking to the media, Kalka criticized the demonstration and stated that religious institutions must not be used as arenas for political activities.
Kalka stated that a group of 25 to 50 individuals arrived at the religious site and pulled banners and posters from their bags to begin raising slogans inside the gurdwara premises. He accused Aam Aadmi Party leaders and MLAs in Delhi of engaging in dirty politics by attempting to politicise the sacred institution and use it for public demonstrations.
The DSGMC president emphasized that the gurdwara is a place of worship where devotees come for spiritual solace rather than a venue for partisan politics. He maintained that such behavior within the holy precincts is unacceptable and stressed that religious sanctity must be preserved at all times against external political interference.
The incident drew sharp reactions from committee leadership regarding the protection of religious spaces from political friction. Authorities continue to review the protocols surrounding the management of gatherings within the historic premises to prevent further disruptions.
