Organizers in Jalandhar are finalizing preparations for the 37th annual Dussehra fair at the Saida School Dussehra ground, featuring large effigies crafted by artisans from Agra. Tarsem Kapoor, president of the Shri Mahakali Mandir Dussehra Committee, stated that artisans begin arriving two months prior to construct the massive figures.

The traditional event will showcase towering effigies of Ravana, Kumbhakarna, and Meghnada, alongside a specialized fireworks display planned for the main celebration. Rajiv Baliya, chairman of the committee, explained that the preparations involve meticulous coordination to ensure a safe and grand spectacle for the public.

Artisan Raju, who has traveled from Agra to Jalandhar for 15 to 16 years to build the structures, noted the dedication required for the intricate craft. Fellow artisan Aman confirmed that the construction process demands precision to meet the scale expected by the organizers.

The celebrations will commence with a shobha yatra starting from Lahoriya Mandir and passing through Meetha Bazaar before reaching the venue. The main Dussehra event is scheduled to take place on the 20th, drawing large crowds to the Saida School Dussehra ground for the festivities.
