Lawyers representing protesters detained at Jantar Mantar claim that the recent arrests executed by Delhi Police were entirely illegal and conducted without proper adherence to due legal process. Legal representatives stated that they were systematically denied access to their detained clients following the police action at the designated demonstration site in the national capital. According to the legal team, law enforcement personnel bypassed standard statutory guidelines while handling the individuals taken into custody during the demonstrations.
Advocate Saurabh and Advocate Ashutosh detailed the sequence of events surrounding the detentions, explaining that protesters were removed from Jantar Mantar and taken to various locations, including the Jafar Kalan police station and the Mandir Marg SCM court. The lawyers alleged that the detentions began during morning hours around 9:30 and continued through subsequent movements at approximately 2:30 and into the night. They argued that the actions of the police force violated fundamental constitutional rights and demonstrated a disregard for established legal frameworks.
Advocate Saurabh stated that Delhi Police appeared to operate from an external rule book driven by instructions from higher authorities rather than statutory law. The legal representatives emphasized that formal First Information Reports and relevant Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections are being scrutinized to challenge the legality of the custody. The defense team confirmed they are preparing legal motions for upcoming court proceedings scheduled for tomorrow to secure the immediate release of the detained protesters.
