Opposition leaders, including Ashok Gehlot, Akhilesh Yadav, and Pargat Singh, staged a protest against the Election Commission, alleging vote theft and electoral irregularities while demanding the protection of democracy. The demonstrations drew prominent political figures to challenge the functioning of the electoral authority amid mounting tensions between opposition parties and the constitutional body.
Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot stated that democracy and the electoral system must be saved, urging the youth and citizens of the country to come forward. He noted that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had already raised critical concerns regarding the integrity of the electoral process and systemic flaws within the administrative framework. Protesters gathered to voice deep dissatisfaction with institutional oversight and called for immediate accountability from election officials.
In Jaipur, former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Rajasthan Congress chief Govind Singh Dotasra were among senior party leaders detained by police during a protest march toward the State Election Commission office. Congress workers carrying party flags and posters demanded the resignation and arrest of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar after gathering at Shaheed Smarak. Heavy police deployment was established at the site, traffic on MI Road was diverted, and authorities utilized water cannons when protesters attempted to push through multiple layers of barricades.
Meanwhile, in New Delhi, Chief Justice of India Surya Kant declined to meet INDIA bloc leaders who approached the judiciary regarding the ongoing political and electoral disputes. The simultaneous demonstrations and legal steps highlight a coordinated opposition strategy targeting the Election Commission across multiple states and institutions. Protesters continue to press their demands for electoral transparency and institutional reform as the political standoff persists.
