The Punjab bandh called in response to the murder of anti-drug crusader Parvinder Singh Chota largely remained ineffective in Jalandhar today. The shutdown call followed the killing of Chota in Mansa about two days back, triggering protests across the region. Local authorities deployed heavy police forces to maintain law and order and regulate traffic throughout the morning hours.

Protesters staged a sit-in dharna for three to four hours at Guru Nanak Mission Chowk to press their demands regarding the ongoing case. Police officials, including Mr. Warrier, were present at the scene to manage the situation and coordinate security efforts. Traffic movement experienced temporary disruptions during the demonstration before authorities cleared the area.

Local leaders such as Bhai Harjinder Singh Jinda, Akash Singh, and Harjot Singh addressed the gathering during the protest in Jalandhar. While commercial establishments and transport services operated normally in most other areas, the demonstration remained the focal point of the day's events. The shutdown call also observed varied responses in nearby districts like Nawanshahr.
